Statement:
Nancy started making miniature 'bottle-top paintings' as a way to entertain without wasting materials. As the practice expanded, she was excited to get into the Hole Editions studio to make some 'bottle-top prints'.
In keeping with the aesthetic of her paintings, the subject needed to be something little, easy to find, often discarded. And as prints, the subject needed to reflect the idea of replication and the multiple image.
With nods to numismatism, stamp-collecting and petty admin tasks throughout the process, the Hole Editions print series is a playful reflection of our under- and over-valuation of common currencies, and the ideas and ideals they represent.
