On the same day I was witness to these two trees, one very white and one very black, both of which have either grown or broken into the same shape as each other. For a minute it looks like the same place as either positive or negative image. For another minute it becomes some terrifying insect or spider; Sutherland's anthropomorphic dreams or Nash's Monster Field. And in another minute all the adult world is stripped away and every nightmare, every threat of your forgotten childhood becomes present and real and inarticulate. Minutes later it's just some trees in the wood and you hear again the sounds of cars and people walking their dogs and you return you to the thoughts of home and what's for tea.
