Statement:
This work explores metaphors developed through patterns within relationships. The forms wrestle, tangle and complicate associations as individuals overlap to make new forms or identities. The titles, Alcyone and Skein and refer to the interconnectedness of relationships through crocheting and knitting terminology; Provenance refers specifically to an origin story. In all three, the insinuation is that each is made from a single thread, showing the passage of time as well as the array of individual components forming and working as a whole.
